Online MSN–FNP: Admissions Requirements

DegreeBachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university or college
Minimum GPAA minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Provisional status may be granted for those students that are below a 3.0 GPA.)
TranscriptsOfficial transcripts from which the undergraduate degree was granted
Additional Requirements
  • A current unencumbered state RN license OR NCLEX eligible
  • An up-to-date resume or CV (follow the provided template
  • Professional essay in APA format (two pages)
  • What skills and knowledge do you want to develop during your graduate education in nursing? Develop an idea for an evidence-based project that is of interest to you (minimum 500 words) and would result in a change in patient outcome or health care delivery.
  • Three nursing references using the recommender form in the application. Recommenders can be supervisors, faculty or professional colleagues such as physicians and social workers, but not peers.
  • Prerequisite course: Statistics
  • Clinicals must be done in the state of New Mexico.

Transfer Credit

At New Mexico Highlands, we accept up to six hours of graduate transfer credits for the online MSN–FNP degree. Transfer credit is approved for the Advanced Pathophysiology course. Contact us to find out more about how to transfer your existing credit into our program.
